Industrial
Serial/Ethernet to Fiber Optic Converters
|
|
CommFront offers
a range of rugged, industrial-grade
fiber optic media converters.
Besides the
capability of long distance data transmission, these
industry-proven
fiber optic converters are inherently
resistant to EMI/RFI and transient surges; therefore, they are ideal for
data communications near heavy electrical equipment and
other electrical or radio interference. Whether
your environment is commercial or industrial, "clean" or "noisy"*, our
fiber optic
converter products provide safe, reliable, easy, and
cost-effective solutions for your
data-conversion
/ device protection applications.
* A "noisy" environment
is an area
surrounded by ground loops, transient surges,
remote lightning and spikes, which could potentially harm your expensive
equipment such as computers and data communication
devices.
The CommFront fiber optic converters provide
simple and effective ways to protect your devices from such
potential harms. |

The
FBR-Serial-2 (Rack/Wall-mount) is
a
rugged,
superior-quality,
light-weight, industrial-grade,
multi-function RS232 / RS485 / RS422 to fiber optic
converter (fiber optic modem) that supports asynchronous
serial communications (RS-232, RS-485, and RS-422) through
fiber optic links. Besides the capability of long distance
data transmission, fiber optic products are inherently resistant to
EMI/RFI and transient surges; therefore, they are ideal for
data communications near heavy electrical equipment and
other electrical or radio interference.
This
industrial RS232/RS485/RS422 to Fiber Optic converter
is enclosed in a heavy-duty, rustless ABS housing (the
improved version of our previous steel housing), it
operates within a
temperature range of -40ºF to 185ºF (-40ºC to 85ºC), and
features 600W surge protection and 15kV static protection.
The unit
supports
128 nodes of RS485 / RS422 devices and come with
data format auto-sensing and
self-adjusting, therefore, no DIP switch, jumper settings or
software drivers are required,
making it a highly reliable and truly plug-and-play
device. Depending
on the fiber cable and the type of converter used, a
Single-Mode
fiber optic converter can extend the RS232 / RS485 / RS422
distance to up to 24.8 miles (40 km), while a
Multi-Mode fiber optic converter can extend the RS232 /
RS485 / RS422 distance to up to 1.2 miles (2 km).
Standards can be mixed and matched, so RS-232 devices can be
connected to RS485 / RS422 devices, or RS485 (2-wire) devices
can be connected to RS422 (4-wire) devices without using a
converter and isolator.
The
FBR-Serial-2 comes with the options of ST, SC and FC
connectors for fiber optic links, and, thanks to the
professional and unique casing design, the product can be
mounted directly on a wall, panel or DIN Rail, without a need of
using any unsecured DIN-Rail or wall-mount adapters. A
separate external power supply is included in the package,
and the
unit is backed by our 30-day risk-free money-back
guarantee and 5-year replacement warranty.
Baud
rates: 300 to 115.2K Baud.

The FBR-Ethernet-2
is a rugged, light-weight, superior-quality, industrial-grade 10/100M Ethernet to fiber optic media converter, which provides
one channel for media conversion between 10/100BaseTX and 100BaseFX.
Besides the capability of long distance data transmission,
fiber optic products are inherently resistant to EMI/RFI and transient surges; therefore, they are ideal for
data communications near heavy electrical equipment and
other electrical or radio interference.
This
industrial Ethernet-to-Fiber-Optic converter
is enclosed in a heavy-duty, rustless ABS housing (the
improved version of our previous steel housing), it
operates within a
temperature range of
-40ºF to 185ºF (-40ºC to 85ºC), and
features 600W surge protection and 15kV static protection.
The unit
features auto-negotiation for half or full-duplex and 10 or
100Mbps data rates, it also supports MDI (straight-through)
and MDIX (crossover) cables, therefore, no DIP switch,
jumper settings or software drivers are required, making the
unit a highly reliable and truly plug-and-play
device. Depending on the
fiber cable and the type of media converter used, a single-mode media
converter can extend the 10/100M Ethernet distance to up to 12.4
miles (20 km), while a single-mode media converter can extend the
distance to up to 1.2 miles (2 km).
